Il media converter consente il collegamento di due diverse tipologie di cavi per la trasmissione dei dati. Questo permette di connettere a lunghe distanze, utilizzando i cavi in fibra ottica, apparati che sono progettati per funzionare a distanze minori, come ad esempio quelli che utilizzano il cavo twisted pair in categoria 5. I media converter possono essere forniti sia in configurazione standalone,con la propria copertura in metallo, con indicatori LED e con alimentatore AC to DC, o in versione a scheda per l‟ installazione nello chassis. Lo chassis fornirà l'alimentazione a tutti i media converter inseriti nello stesso.
L‟ RCB2-12 è uno chassis per media converter, capace di contenere fino a 12 unità singole. Lo chassis è dotato di un alimentatore universale AC to DC ed è gia montato nel primo slot. Per garantire massima flessibilità e sicurezza di funzionamento, è disponibile un alimentatore ridonante opzionale da installare nello chassis. In opzione è disponibile anche alimentazione a -48Vdc o -24Vdc

Il modulo fornisce la possibilità di monitorare via SNMP e attraverso l'uso di una interfaccia GUI Windows based, tutti i moduli media converter e l'alimentatore installati nello chassis RCA/B. Il modulo è dotato di una porta 10/Mbps Ethernet per la connessione alla LAN, permettendo di monitorare il sistema attraverso una stazione di management SNMP. In aggiunta è presenta una porta console RS-232 per connettere il dispositivo alla porta seriale del BO.

When two racks are positioned side by side with centre distance 800mm, there will be storage for patch cord over length. Up to 4 meter over length of etch cable can be stored.
There is an integrated cable duct on top of etch rack. Patch cord crossing from one rack to the other is simple. No need for overhead mounted cable duct and no threading of patch cords. All passages are open.

Possibility to enter the box with a 96-fibre cable, drop up to 48 fibres and exit with the same cable. Can also be use as a splice box. One 48 fibre cable can be spliced to a numerous of smaller sized.

The box has 5 cable entrances, in each corner and one at the sink. Max cable diameter 11mm. Traditional cable, micro cable and micro ducts can me connected
The box is made from steel, painted with structure corral white colour. It has stand offs for wall mount.
